1930

José Mazo Ferrer makes his first journeys from Alhama de Almería to Alzira. He purchases an Opel lorry, which he uses to start working in commercial transport. At the outbreak of the Spanish Civil War he has a total of 5 vehicles, which are requisitioned by the State due to the fratricidal conflict. However, he manages to keep two of them for his own use over this period.

1939

He moves to Alzira permanently with his three sons (Antonio, Pepe, and Paco). His fourth son, Bernardo, would be born in Alzira. The Transportes Alzira company is founded a short time later. It has 16 partners and survives for roughly 5 years, after which it closes down.

1950

1950 sees the foundation of Transportes Mazo, which is started by José Mazo and two friends. Antonio, José’s first born, joins the company that same decade. With an increasing workload, his other sons follow in Antonio’s footsteps.

1967

José Mazo Ferrer passes away. His four sons consider starting their own company.

1970

Transportes Mazo Hermanos S.A. is founded.

1975

The company continues to attract clients and expands into other countries. Mazo purchases its first refrigerated semi-trailers. It begins to specialise in transporting refrigerated goods.

1985
1989

Trans-Frigo Canarias is founded. The first delivery from mainland Spain to Tenerife is made. Intermodal transport becomes a key part of the Transportes Mazo business model.

Mazo pioneers the use of the Channel Tunnel connecting France and the UK.

Alzira City Council awards Transportes Mazo the city’s gold badge.

Expansion into Africa. Deliveries to Morocco begin. Mazo steadily consolidates its position in the Moroccan market and continues to grow in the country to this day

We get back aboard the train and lead the way in our use of the railway linking southern France and Luxembourg. This 1,000km line also allows us to help protect the environment as we significantly reduce our carbon footprint.

The London Stock Exchange publishes its “1000 Companies to Inspire Europe” report which features Mazo amongst the 75 Spanish companies inspiring the European economy.

Grupo Mazo purchases 100,000 metres in the El Pla Industrial District where it will relocate its facilities.
